3 levels of gingival texture
Gingival texture is another important aspect of creating a natural-looking restoration. For example, lighter gingival textures better represent the thinning and smoothing of the oral mucosa as seen in older patients. Gingival texture also has an impact on oral hygiene with more pronounced textures, while looking more youthful and lifelike, requiring additional oral hygiene measures.
LIGHT
Smoother gums, subdued root structures, lightly textured and smoother cervical areas. No frenum. Minimal hygiene maintenance required.
MEDIUM
Stippled gums, elevated root structures, textured cervical areas. Frenum is present. Moderate oral hygiene measures required.
PRONOUNCED
Heavy stippling and texture on gums, accentuated root structures, characterized cervical areas. Frenum is highly present. Greater oral hygiene measures required.
